Le comte Ory is an opéra written by Gioachino Rossini in 1828. Some of the music originates from his opera Il viaggio a Reims written three years earlier for the coronation of Charles X.[1] The French libretto was by Eugène Scribe and Charles-Gaspard Delestre-Poirson adapted from a comedy they had first written in 1817.

Belcanto Fireworks: The "Klangvokal" Dortmund festival opens with Gioacchino Rossini's "Le Comte Ory"
As a true queen of belcanto, Jessica Pratt triumphs at his side, well known for her interpretation of Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor. Her soprano voice is extremely flexible, light and beaming, but also powerful up to the high extremes, always well shaped and noble. As in a blind flight this wonderful singer rides through all the insidious bends of the virtuous ornamental singing. Her staccati, just slightly marked are something to kneel for. Light as a feather and unfailingly precise. Rossini’s mastery has found in her the ultimate performer.

Rossini always works !!! Klangvokal Musikfestival Dortmund starts the season with fulminant opera evening.
The Australian soprano Jessica Pratt, as Adèle de Formoutiers, made an almost sensational debut. The world-famous singer (among other things, she sings Lucia di Lammermoor in the coming season 2017/18 in New York and in Paris) spoiled the audience with her voice, her coloratura, the precise top notes and the wonderful singing power.

Triumph of Belcanto
This is followed by the Countess's performance, which is given by Jessica Pratt with radiant heights and light flowing coloratura. Her aria "En proie à la tristesse", in which she bemoans her melancholy [...], served through Pratt's cleanly raised heights represents another musical highlight...

Klangvokal-Festival with a Rossini opera - Explosive opening
Soprano Jessica Pratt shined wonderfully over the strong orchestral tones ...a perfect coloratura and belcanto singer for the role of the countess.

A rightful festival opening
Thew real surprise star of the evening was Jessica Pratt in the role of the courted countess Adèle. The Australian, between the Met, Paris and Covent Garden, is exiting: flawless and secure even in the notes just marked with clean high notes and super fast coloratura.

Gioacchino Rossini

Short biography of the composer
Gioachino Antonio Rossini (29 February 1792 – 13 November 1868) was an Italian composer who wrote 39 operas as well as sacred music, chamber music, songs, and some instrumental and piano pieces. His best-known operas include the Italian comedies Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) and La Cenerentola (Cinderella), and the French-language epics Moïse et Pharaon and Guillaume Tell (William Tell). A tendency for inspired, song-like melodies is evident throughout his scores, which led to the nickname "The Italian Mozart". Until his retirement in 1829, Rossini had been the most popular opera composer in history. He is quoted as joking, "Give me the laundress' bill and I will even set that to music."
